Is it better for male actors to wear makeup or not to wear it when taking headshots?

I am thinking I may need some light theatrical makeup for my headshots but am not sure. Any advice?Is it better for male actors to wear makeup or not to wear it when taking headshots?
wear make-up, just a light touch under the eyes and cheeks. a guy would look dead and pale if he doesn't wear make-up during head shots. the lights are so bright, that the natural color of the skin would be washed out.

I am a tech, thus never had a head shot, but I think some light stage makeup would be good.

in a play, everybody male and female apply make-up, otherwise, they will appear lousy in front of camera.
You really don't need any, because any blemishes can be removed digitally or airbrushed before the final print. As a guy, you don't want to look ';made up'; for a headshot- natural is best.





POSSIBLY you might take a little transluscent powder along in case the photographer wants to take the shine off. A qualified photographer, though, will know when that is needed, and may have some on hand.





I would avoid eyeliner, obvious base, and blush. A headshot is completely different from a show in which you need theatrical makeup.
You can go either way. If you're working with a photographer whose judgment you trust (and you SHOULD be!), then ask him/her to make a recommendation.
wear basic make up...base, blush ect. because the pictures are in black and white. when in doubt keep it simple. don't make it look like you are wearing make up, but cover up anything you want covered up and enhance anything you want to enhance. just make it look like you aren't wearing make up and you will be fine. good luck. remember the little people.
Save it for the composites so you can work some characters. A good photographer should be able to light you well enough for the head shot. Too much and somebody well eventually say, Huh, that guy out in the waiting room isn't the guy in the picture.
I'd go for a clean face.
